Jennifer Wells
Jennifer Wells is a singer-songwriter in Atlanta, Georgia. She currently performs with the Gin Joint
Rascals which began as a musical collaboration with her friend, Matt Donald and Conner Allred. Though she has spent countless musical hours with many talented friends—singing and playing around campfires and at parties—the Gin Joint Rascals is her first venture in performing publicly. She provides lead and backing vocals and plays ukulele in the band, as well as guitar offstage. Jennifer is thrilled to join the stage with her female Rascals, Patricia Richmond and Sandy Nichols, who share their talents and unending support in joyfully making music. Jennifer also recently worked with fellow Rascal Matt Donald in his Americana/rock band, Old Matt Donald’s Farm. Contributing backing vocals, she served as a guest artist on their first album of all original material, set to release in early 2024. She was immensely honored to write the song “Don’t Let it Pass You By” with her friend Ralph Roddenbery—a profound and treasured musician known throughout the Southeast—and which has since been performed on countless stages by Ralph and his band.
Jennifer works as a grant writer for some of her passion pursuits. She has two amazingly talented teen daughters and regularly attends their many musical theatre performances. She lives in her hometown of Lilburn. She loves attending music festivals, camping and hiking. She finds her peace at home where she loves to cook, bake, read, and binge-watch her favorite TV and movie series.
Matt Donald
Matt Donald is a singer/songwriter who has spent 30 plus years honing the
art of songwriting. Matt grew up singing at summer camp, parties, and
church events with his father who was a folk singer, guitarist, and banjo
picker in the 60’ and 70’s. Trained as a classical violinist at a young age
and later as a vocalist, Matt turned to folk music and rock and roll as his
preferred musical outlets. A veteran of the Atlanta music scene since the
early 90’s, he has been as a rhythm guitarist, backup vocalist, and
percussionist for various Atlanta area rock groups. In 2012, he stepped up to
front his own bands. His Americana/rock band Old Matt Donald’s Farm
plans to release their first album of all original material in early 2024.
Emerging from the global pandemic, Matt co-founded Gin Joint Rascals
with his friend Jennifer Wells in a return to his folk and Americana roots.
When he’s not making music, Matt has worked professionally as a graphic
designer, lead carpenter, a cabinet maker and wood carver. Coming from a
long line of woodworkers, Matt enjoys creative problem solving and working
with his hands. He designs and carves incredible images and scenes into
electric guitar bodies and he creates all his bands’ imagery from logos to
promotional material in print and online.
